US INFLATION COMES OUT ABOVE EXPECTATIONS
US inflation data for January came out above expectations.
The annual core Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.0%, higher than the expected 2.9%.
Monthly CPI for January increased by 0.5%, surpassing the expected 0.3%.
Core CPI (excluding food and energy) rose 3.3% annually, above the expected 3.1%.
On a monthly basis, core CPI rose 0.4%, higher than the expected 0.3%.
This data is negative for the US Federal Reserve, signaling a stronger-than-expected inflation rebound.
