CANADIAN DOLLAR AND MEXICAN PESO FALL, EASE SLIGHTLY BUT REMAIN SIGNIFICANT

The Canadian dollar and Mexican peso fell sharply but eased slightly after initial trading in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Canadian dollar weakened by 1.2%, reaching C$1.469 per USD, marking its biggest fall since September 2022.

The Mexican peso dropped 2.1%, falling to 21.11 per USD, one of its largest declines in the past year.

Despite the significant drops, MUFG analyst Lee Hardman stated the moves were “relatively contained.”
